US Halts Green Card Program Following Brown University Shooting Suspect

The US authorities will suspend the Green Card lottery program after a suspect in the Brown University shooting entered the country through this program. This was announced by the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristen Noem.

“At the direction of President Trump, I am immediately directing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to suspend the program so that Americans are no longer harmed by this harmful program,” Noem wrote on social media platform X.

According to the Secretary, Claudio Neves Valentin, the shooter at Brown University, entered the US through this program in 2017 and obtained a Green Card.
