New Developments and Attacks Against the Church Are Ahead: Seyran Ohanyan

The events that took place yesterday at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin were a national disgrace and immorality, clearly incited and controlled by the forces that have usurped the power of Armenia, both internally and externally. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the "Armenia" alliance in the National Assembly.

“The authorities, stained with the most grievous crimes against our state and people, have once again orchestrated a conspiracy against the Armenian Apostolic Church, attempting to undermine one of the key pillars of our statehood and national identity. The most disgusting aspect we witnessed yesterday was the TREASON of several high-ranking, dominion-seeking clergy and bishops towards their own vows and faithful brothers.”

“In response to this, the dignified words of His Holiness were heard, which was a sincere call for national unity and tolerance towards each other, instead of the hatred and animosity directed against him. The clergy, with their balanced demeanor, alongside the devoted children of the nation, properly welcomed and sent off those who were present yesterday.”

“For this, we are deeply grateful. Dear compatriots, it is evident that new developments and new attacks against the Armenian Apostolic Church are ahead, as the ruling group will attempt to execute this task, which is also part of the geopolitical conspiracy, at any cost.”

“Therefore, I urge everyone to remain united, as we did yesterday, not to fall for provocations, and to gather together, stand strong, and defend our faith and Church. History has shown that we have succeeded when we have been united,” he wrote.
