Universal Health Insurance Law Adopted
The National Assembly has adopted the package of laws on Universal Health Insurance in its second reading and in its entirety. A total of 64 MPs voted in favor, 2 against, and 5 abstained.
According to Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, the reform is historic, marking a step towards a pre-paid, financially relieving, predictable system that accurately addresses health care needs.
As a result of the reform related to Universal Health Insurance, about 1.4 million people will be fully included in the health insurance system funded by the state budget.
For the first group of insurance payers, citizens earning more than 201,000 AMD, the insurance package will activate starting January 1, 2026. The first payment obligation will be due by January 20. The month of November has been selected as the calculation base for wages.
