There are 2 Options for Financing Ukraine: Ursula von der Leyen
The International Monetary Fund and our assessments indicate that Ukraine's needs will amount to about €137 billion in 2026 and 2027, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“Europe must cover two-thirds, or €90 billion. And it’s not just about numbers. It’s about strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to ensure a real peace that is just, sustainable, and protects Ukraine and, therefore, Europe. It also pertains to the increase in military spending for Russia. This is why I proposed two different options for the upcoming European Council — one based on assets, the other on EU loans. And we need to decide which direction we want to go, which path we want to take,” von der Leyen stated.
