EU Demands from Armenia Are Different from Those from Georgia, Says Prime Minister
The European Union's double standards towards Georgia are shameful, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gakharia during a conversation with journalists. This was reported by the APA news agency.
The Prime Minister stated that European bureaucrats are directly demanding that Georgia join the sanctions imposed against Russia.
“In 2022, we carried out a number of straightforward calculations and found that joining the sanctions could lead to at least a 10 percent economic downturn. Therefore, we made a decision that was in line with our national interests,” Gakharia noted.
He also reminded that the European bureaucracy has not imposed such demands on Moldova, Armenia, or other countries. “There are also double standards here. The Prime Ministers of certain countries can fly from Europe to Moscow. We have no objection; that is the internal affair of those countries. However, what is acceptable for some may provoke a sharply negative reaction for others,” the Prime Minister of Georgia said.
