Assistance to Ukraine Contradicts Hungary's Interests, Says Szijjártó
Hungary is not prepared to spend a single cent of its own resources on financing Ukraine and is against the confiscation of frozen Russian assets. This was stated by Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó.
According to him, the EU wants to transfer more than 200 billion euros of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, more than half of which should be allocated to financing the Ukrainian army.
"They are sending it to a country with an incredible level of public corruption, governed by a military mafia, filled with uncertainty, and not a member of NATO. This is completely contrary to Hungary's interests and fundamentally contradicts national security interests. I made it clear yesterday that we Hungarians are not ready to spend a single cent of Hungarian money on Ukraine—neither for the activities of the Ukrainian state, nor for the arming of the army, nor for the war," Szijjártó said.
