Aghtoyans' Daughter-in-Law and Grandchildren Wanted to Return, They Were Not Allowed: 'Hraparak'

The daughter-in-law and grandchildren of the Aghtoyan family, who left the village of Mrdakav, recently expressed a desire to return. However, they encountered opposition from the relatives of the slain Valodia Grigoryan. The investigative body asked the Grigoryans if they would object to the return of Davit Aghtoyan’s wife and children to the village, as well as their attendance at the village school. The Grigoryans stated that this was not possible, as their children, who are 11-12 years old and of similar age to the Aghtoyans' children, would not tolerate them in school, leading to fights and tension. Ultimately, it was decided to refrain from this step in order to avoid escalating the atmosphere.

This is reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'. According to reports, the state has accommodated the Aghtoyans in Dilijan. Currently, there is a permanent police presence in Mrdakav, monitoring every intersection and street.

Recall that on October 12, villagers held a petition demanding the expulsion of the Aghtoyan clan and their relatives from Mrdakav. The action that started that day, as the locals claimed, was spontaneous and did not have any organizers. The people were outraged by the murder of their fellow villager, the beloved mayor of Parak'ar, Valodia Grigoryan, and naturally, their anger was directed at those accused of the murder and their entire clan. The atmosphere in the village was tense, and new tragedies could not be ruled out.

The Aghtoyans have left Mrdakav. The Investigative Committee has confirmed our information but did not provide details on how the Aghtoyans' departure took place, what means were used, or who took them and where.

It should be noted that the former mayor of Mrdakav, the member of the ruling My Step faction, Mher Aghtoyan, who is the nephew of Narek Ohanyan, accused of aiding in Valodia Grigoryan's murder, is not in the country. He left the Republic of Armenia before V. Grigoryan's murder and has not returned since. One of the theories suggests that Mher Aghtoyan was aware of the impending murder of Valodia Grigoryan.
