Abbas Araghchi on the Potential for Economic Ties Between Russia and Iran

The potential for economic ties between Russia and Iran could elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new political level, announced Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“The potential for cooperation in the economic sector between Iran and Russia significantly exceeds the current level. The development of bilateral trade, joint investments, and the utilization of additional economic advantages can elevate the economic relationship between the two countries to the level of actual political relations,” Araghchi wrote.

“This potential, thanks to the joint will of both countries, can lead to tangible and sustainable results,” he emphasized.

Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, informed RIA Novosti that Araghchi is scheduled to meet with the State Duma deputies today in Moscow, and on Wednesday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. Discussions will focus on bilateral cooperation and the current situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program. According to Iran's diplomatic mission, Araghchi has already arrived in the Russian capital.
