Ukraine's energy system is nearing collapse, and the transmission systems between the country's regions may go offline, the Washington Post reports, citing officials.
There are indications that the power transfer systems between Ukraine's regions may be disrupted, leading to a division of the energy grid. According to the publication, Ukraine's energy system has been brought to the "brink of collapse." Massive power outages lasting for hours have been occurring across Ukraine since October 10.
The country's authorities reported damage to energy networks and utilities. At that time, Acting Energy Minister Svitlana Grinchuk described the situation as very serious. On October 11, the situation was stabilized; however, starting October 13, the implementation of emergency power cutoff schedules resumed.
