The Main Issue Was Not the Sharp Increase in Air Pollution, but the Absence of Winds: Galjyan
Armen Galjyan, head of the Civil Contract faction in the Yerevan City Council, wrote on social media: "From the window of our house, Mount Ara can be seen. Due to the deterioration of air quality over the past month, it was hardly visible. However, since yesterday, following the activation of winds, the mountain is once again clearly visible. This once again shows that the main issue in recent weeks was not a sharp increase in air pollution, but rather the absence of winds, which caused the air to literally remain 'stationary' in the city.
In the past two weeks, various, often exaggerated assessments have been made regarding low air quality. To understand the real picture, a cooler and more substantiated approach is necessary. Certainly, the coverage of construction sites and other control measures are essential and must be consistently implemented. However, it is equally important to articulate the problems correctly and focus on real causes, without replacing them with interpretations based on emotions or political delusions. Only then can effective and long-term solutions be found for environmental issues."
Earlier, we reported that Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan had spoken about improving air quality.
