Another Case of Illegal Logging Discovered
Efforts to prevent and uncover illegal logging continue to remain a focus of the Police's attention. As a result of these initiatives, the Community Police officers of the Tashir division have revealed another instance of illegal tree felling.
On December 12, while acting on operational information, community police discovered a "GAZ-66" vehicle without registration in the village of Privolnoye, Lori Province, loaded with approximately 5 cubic meters of poplar wood without acquisition permission.
The 33-year-old driver reported that he and a 50-year-old resident of the same village cut the wood from a forest area near Privolnoye. On the same day, utilizing the received intelligence, the community police of the Tashir division found an additional 5 cubic meters of oak wood in the backyard of the 33-year-old man's house. He informed the authorities that he had cut down the oaks from the same forest area on December 11 and transported them to his yard with the "GAZ-66" vehicle without any acquisition permit.
The relevant documents have been submitted to the investigative body, and a criminal case has been initiated. The residents of Privolnoye, a 33-year-old and a 50-year-old man, have been arrested and transferred to a detention facility.
