Ukrainian Crisis Issues Will Persist Until 2026, Says Fidan
The issues related to the Ukrainian crisis will persist until 2026, and a number of conflict resolution questions can only be addressed through a referendum in Ukraine, stated Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
“The issues related to the Ukrainian crisis will remain until 2026, at least in the first and second quarters. Apparently, a number of specific questions can be resolved through a referendum or elections in Ukraine. Certain aspects of a peace agreement can only be resolved through a referendum; this may include a decision that the political leader will not agree to sign,” said Fidan.
“Mr. Putin is serious about the ceasefire issue and wants it. He has certain conditions. Both sides are clear about what they want and do not want, but the problem is that their desires are contradictory... a compromise or alternative solution will be found. Both sides have certain maneuvering capabilities,” noted the minister.
