Criminal Charges Filed Against Greta Thunberg in Finland
A criminal case has been filed against Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg in Finland, according to Helsingin Sanomat newspaper. The young woman is accused of obstructing law enforcement authorities. The violation occurred during a demonstration by the Extinction Rebellion environmental movement in downtown Helsinki last June. Police halted the activists and ordered them to cease the protest and leave the street. Those who did not comply, including Thunberg, were taken to the police station.
On November 22, Extinction Rebellion activists held a rally in Venice to express their dissatisfaction with the outcomes of the COP30 conference. Subsequently, they poured paint into the Grand Canal, coloring the water bright green. Two days later, The Telegraph reported that 22-year-old Thunberg and about 35 of her supporters were fined 150 euros and temporarily banned from entering Venice.
