Paruyr Seyrak's Marble Bust Faces Criticism
The marble bust of poet Paruyr Seyrak, created by sculptor Levon Tokmajyan, was recently installed in the yard of the Academy of Sciences Intermediate School. "This is one of my best works, I have done what I wanted," said the sculptor, reflecting on his creation.
Initially, Tokmajyan considered placing the bust at Seyrak's house-museum, but realized that it was more significant in the schoolyard. However, the sculpture has not received acclaim among the public. Users have expressed surprise and anger at Tokmajyan’s rendition of Seyrak. Some criticized it, stating that it bears no resemblance to Seyrak. Others labeled it as a "mockery of art." Meanwhile, the 88-year-old sculptor has mentioned that he had the opportunity to interact with Seyrak, which influenced the bust's representation—thoughtful and in a struggle against time.
