Temporary Protection Certificates Validity Will Be Automatically Extended

Temporary Protection Certificates Validity Will Be Automatically Extended

The Migration and Citizenship Service once again informs that there is no need to replace temporary protection (refugee) certificates. According to the Government of Armenia's decision 1649-N dated October 17, 2024, the validity of temporary protection certificates replaced in 2024 will be automatically extended immediately after the adoption of the corresponding new decision by the Government.

It is important to note that the presence of a temporary protection certificate is not mandatory when crossing the border in the direction of entry. If your passport has changed (loss, expiration, damage) after receiving the temporary protection certificate, you need to submit an application to obtain a new certificate with the updated information, as the temporary protection certificate is issued solely based on the valid passport.

Additionally, you can check the QR code on your card before crossing the border, which indicates the validity period of the certificate. However, if you try to check the QR code before the end of this year, the extended validity period will not be visible, as the system will be updated only after the adoption of the Government's new decision.
