Four Armenian Boxers Reach World Championship Semifinals
The Armenian national boxing team has secured four spots in the semifinals of the World Boxing Championship. This was reported by the Armenian Boxing Federation, highlighting the successes of the Armenian athletes.
The Federation noted that after four years, the boxer from Gyumri, Davit Chaloyan, returns to the podium of the World Championship. The 2021 world silver medalist achieved a remarkable victory against a representative from Kazakhstan, a country known for its rich boxing traditions.
In the 60 kg weight category, Arthur Bazeyan confidently defeated Matheus Prokudinis from Latvia. Having a noticeable lead in the first two rounds, Bazeyan fought from a position of strength in the third round and completed the task. This is his first time reaching the semifinals of the World Championship in his career.
The Federation also mentioned that Hovhannes Bachkov unleashed a flurry of strong punches in his unique style against Belarus's Vadim Vauchok, securing a victory and advancing to the semifinals. Raphael Hovhannisyan also triumphed in a tough match against a representative from Ecuador, marking his first entry into the World Championship semifinals.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian team has achieved a historic result at the World Championship held in Dubai, with nine boxers reaching the quarterfinals.
