Arrest of Individual Accused of Espionage Extended
The detention of Ashkhen Aleksanyan, an employee of the Armenian diplomatic corps who was arrested at Zvartnots Airport last summer while en route to Austria, has been extended by the court just days ago. This was reported by the newspaper "Hraparak."
One of Aleksanyan's attorneys, Tavor Gevorgyan, confirmed that her detention has been extended until December 2, adding nearly two months to her original term.
As previously mentioned, documents were found on the diplomat, leading to suspicions of espionage on behalf of Azerbaijan. Following this discovery, the National Security Service (NSS) conducted an extensive search at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, examining and confiscating several computers and documents.
Later, information emerged indicating that the young woman had a romantic relationship with an Azerbaijani individual and allegedly relayed certain information to the hostile country in exchange for money. Aleksanyan is the only defendant in the case, and her lawyers have previously stated that both she and they do not accept the charges against her.
