Can They Imprison Kanis? "Fact"
The total number of individuals held in Armenian correctional institutions currently stands at approximately 2,845. This was reported yesterday by the head of the Ministry of Justice's penitentiary service. He also stated that the prisons have the capacity to hold up to 4,000 individuals.
The newspaper "Fact" writes, "Well, this is an interesting fact in itself. This means that if no criminal cases are examined during this time, and no judicial sentences regarding detention are issued, Pashinyan could accommodate an additional 1,115 opposition figures or simply those who criticize him, including retirees over the age of 70. After that, there would be no more available space in the prisons. However, since we are a society that has seen route minibuses and 'reformed' buses, it can be said that, if desired, prisons could accommodate not just 1,100, but also another 2,200 anti-government citizens.
In reality, the number of people in Armenia who are opposed to the government and do not accept Pashinyan and his administration, both on social media and outside of it by expressing such sentiments that are 'criminal' in nature, is not just in the thousands, not just 2,000, or even more than 4,000 (even if all were released to create spaces for opponents); in fact, there are hundreds of thousands. And not even Pashinyan, whoever he might be, can place all citizens rejecting this government in prisons with a maximum capacity of 4,000," the article states.
