15th Century Gospel Stolen in Taperakan Community of Ararat Province

Unknown individuals have stolen a 15th-century Gospel that was kept in the Taperakan community of Ararat Province. This information was shared on the Facebook page of the Matenadaran.

"This incident emphasizes the need to address the issue of the presence of manuscripts in private homes and community church institutions without proper security and preservation conditions," the announcement states.

The Matenadaran administration declares that they are ready to offer their material and professional resources for the proper preservation of manuscripts in private or community ownership.

It is guaranteed that all manuscripts will be transferred to the Matenadaran's depository under a previously signed temporary preservation agreement that will outline the owner's rights and the Matenadaran's obligations.

"It is unfortunate that alongside the Matenadaran's 'Return of Manuscripts' campaign, which is bringing back our spiritual values from various auctions and private collections around the world, samples of spiritual history are being robbed and disappearing within our own country," the Matenadaran stated.
