Azerbaijan and Slovakia May Become Strategic Partners

Slovakia's President Peter Pellegrini has made quite an unusual and controversial statement. "After many years, a peace agreement has been preliminarily signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia. I would like to congratulate Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people," Pellegrini said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to Azerbaijani media.

The Slovak president emphasized that attention will now focus on the post-conflict period. "Azerbaijan can play a leading role in Slovakia. In the long term, Azerbaijan can become a strategic partner for us. Our delegations will continue negotiations. We will be able to utilize Azerbaijan's energy resources. In the defense industry, we do not intend to simply sell weapons to Azerbaijan. We have extensive experience in self-propelled artillery and other areas. We can work with Azerbaijan in technology transfer and joint production. We can sell jointly produced products to third countries," Pellegrini noted.

Pellegrini also stated that Azerbaijan has already expressed its intention to purchase artillery systems. The Slovak president declared that these weapons would strengthen the capabilities of the Azerbaijani army.
