The Mother See Issues a Condemnatory Statement

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin strongly condemns the arrest of His Eminence Archbishop Tiran Khachaturyan, the chief secretary of the Mother See, based on fabricated and unfounded charges on December 4, as well as the court's decision to implement detention against him.

“This action is an expression of the recent unleashed oppression against the Church and a continuation of the political persecution of clergy. The detention of high-ranking clergy based on contrived accusations is yet another manifestation of the government’s anti-Church policies and the rhetoric of hatred against clergymen.”

The statement from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin demands an immediate cessation of the illegal persecutions against Archbishop Tiran Khachaturyan and other detained clergymen, as well as the restoration of their violated rights.
