Publication of Serzh Sargsyan's Letter Was Inappropriate: Mamijanyan
The publication of a letter from third president Serzh Sargsyan to Russian President Vladimir Putin by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was inappropriate without the agreement of the other side, stated opposition MP and member of the Republican Party of Armenia Haik Mamijanyan during the traditional end-of-year press briefing in the National Assembly.
However, as the MP noted, it is now possible to publicly see what the reaction to Serzh Sargsyan's letter is.
“One can mention the established credit and the possibility of acquiring weapons, the temporary status of Nagorno-Karabakh in future documents—with all its guarantees—and the referendum, which, despite the attempts of certain propagandists to present it as being conducted in the territory of Azerbaijan, was clearly stipulated in black and white that the referendum would take place in Nagorno-Karabakh and for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. Isn’t it obvious what the results of all this would be?” said Mamijanyan.
According to him, if Azerbaijan had postponed the referendum or completely refused to hold it, Lachin and Kelbajar would remain Armenian forever.
He also referred to the 2019 proposal of the OSCE Minsk Group, noting that Pashinyan had undertaken actions at that time that essentially froze the negotiation process. This specifically pertains to his loud statements saying, “Artsakh is Armenia, and that's it.”
“Meanwhile, it was quite a good document for work,” Mamijanyan added.
