Iran to Import Water from Neighboring Countries

In the context of drought and a water crisis, Iran is negotiating with several neighboring countries regarding the potential import of water resources, stated Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi. Previously, ISNA reported that the water level in the country’s main reservoirs has reached 32%.

According to the official, one of the goals is to create a surplus of water. "We are negotiating with our neighbors and looking for opportunities to import water from countries willing to do so," said Aliabadi.

Fars agency reports that as of November 8, 19 of Iran's reservoirs, which account for about 10% of operational reservoirs, are close to completely drying up, with their reserves not exceeding 5%.
