Turkish Journalist to Face Legal Action for Covering Armenian Genocide

The editor of the newspaper "Bianet," journalist Tugce Yilmaz, is facing legal action for publishing an interview titled "Stories of Armenian Youth in Turkey: 109 Years of Mourning." The interview reportedly included discussions with Armenian youth.

The court session was initially scheduled for December 2 but has been postponed until April 21, 2026.

The Istanbul prosecutor's office has charged the editor with "insulting the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, its governmental bodies and institutions." However, the prosecution has noted that the case against her is based on a complaint from radical nationalists regarding her coverage of the Armenian Genocide.
