No Grounds for Optimism: Lavrov on the Collapse of the OSCE
Ofelya
There are no grounds for optimism regarding the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), but there remains a possibility of avoiding the organization's collapse, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as reported by TASS.
"I emphasize that there are no reasons for optimism. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. However, there is a chance to avoid the collapse of the OSCE—at least for now," Lavrov noted.
According to him, it is necessary for all OSCE members to return to the Helsinki principles based on dialogue founded on equality and mutual respect.
It is worth recalling that on December 1, the OSCE officially announced the closure of the Minsk process and related structures.
