New Elections Will Occur If No Political Majority Is Formed, Says Galyan
From the perspective of strengthening democracy, we found it appropriate that after the main first elections, if one party does not form a political majority or a coalition, instead of going to a second round, there should be new elections. This was stated by the Minister of Justice, Surbhi Galyan, in an interview with journalists regarding the reforms of the Electoral Code.
“To create a greater opportunity for political forces to unite for the second elections,” the minister said.
Galyan clarified that the elections would start from a zero point. “Based on those results, if a majority force is not formed again, we will have a second round, in essence, under the same regulations that exist today,” she stated.
