Reason Behind EU Air Restrictions on Armenia Revealed
The restrictions on flights of Armenian-registered aircraft within the European Union airspace are linked to technical and safety requirements and do not have any political undertones. This was stated by European Commission representative Marta Kos, emphasizing that the process is under the supervision of the European Aviation Safety Agency.
According to her, a series of measures have been established as a result of the assessment that Armenia must undertake to comply with European standards. The EU remains in constant communication with Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee, and a final decision will not be made until the required measures are fully implemented.
Kos noted that the process is solely related to ensuring safety. To this end, the EU has offered Armenia participation in the 'Twinning' program, under which experts from member states will provide technical assistance to the government. The funding for the program will be secured by the European Union.
