Georgia's Demands to Azerbaijan and Armenia Revealed by Saakashvili

The former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has announced that the relationships between the current government of Georgia and both Western partners and its neighboring countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan, have become strained. As he stated on his Facebook page, the Georgian leadership has issued demands to Armenia regarding the activities of Georgian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating there.

“Kobakhidze is asking Armenia to expel Georgian NGOs from Yerevan (which is now full of Georgians, as previous conferences funded by the West in Georgia have all moved to Yerevan) and to close their accounts. The Pashinyan government responds that Armenia does not have a law on foreign agents and does not intend to adopt such a law, and there are no grounds for restricting the freedom of Georgians. Kobakhidze, in turn, threatens Yerevan with restrictions on the movement of goods,” Saakashvili noted.

He also pointed out that similar issues have arisen with Azerbaijan. According to Saakashvili, Tbilisi has begun to create obstacles for Azerbaijani freight transport, which has caused dissatisfaction in Baku. He emphasizes that Azerbaijani media links this situation to external influences.
