Statement on Preventive Strikes Against Russia is Irresponsible Step - Zakharova

Statement by Giuseppe Cavò Dragone regarding possible preventive strikes against Russia is considered by us as an extremely irresponsible step, demonstrating the alliance's readiness to continue escalation. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“We view this as a deliberate attempt to disrupt efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. Those making such statements must be aware of the associated risks and potential consequences, including for the alliance members. NATO has long ceased to hide its true objectives and intentions. Nevertheless, the conscience of the alliance's leadership allows them to accuse Russia of 'belligerent nuclear rhetoric,' threats, and notorious hybrid attacks without any evidence of our involvement.”

“Such statements not only pour oil on the fire but also seriously inflame the already existing confrontation,” she added.

It is worth noting that the Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavò Dragone, stated that the North Atlantic alliance is discussing preventive actions in response to Russia's alleged aggressive actions, yet such a decision faces a number of legal challenges.
