9,000 Families Currently Without Permanent Residence in Artsakh, Minister Says

New residential buildings are being constructed in the rural communities of Artsakh that have the necessary infrastructure and can accommodate more residents than currently live there. This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Mesrop Arakelyan, during a conversation with journalists in Parliament.

The minister noted that funding for the construction of residential buildings will come from both the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the state budget. “Currently, the total budget is set at 110 billion drams, of which 52 billion will be allocated from the budget,” said Mesrop Arakelyan.

When asked how many families are currently registered that need housing, the minister mentioned that it concerns about 9,000 families. “9,000 families do not have a permanent residence at this time. Only a few hundred temporary shelters have been built, and the upcoming program is planned for three years,” the minister stated.
