Samvel Karapetyan's Defender Withdraws Appeal
Armen Feroyan, the defender of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, has issued a statement.
"The clearly unlawful detention decision in the fabricated criminal case against Samvel Karapetyan was appealed by me to the Court of Appeals on June 19, 2025. Subsequently, under unprecedented rapid circumstances and, in my assumption, due to illegal interventions, the materials of this case were transferred to the Court of Appeals and assigned to Judge Armen Danielyan. Given that this judge has been rated as the lowest for decades and has frequently faced disqualification, lacking the perception of justice, we have decided, in discussions with my client, to withdraw the appeal that I submitted in accordance with legal procedures. I would like to inform that this application has already been filed with the Court of Appeals and is subject to immediate consideration.
I also state that regarding the violation of Mr. Karapetyan’s rights, only those domestic remedies that are effective will be exhausted when appealing to the European Court of Human Rights. However, the effectiveness of domestic remedies in this case is completely absent, and the necessary preparatory actions by the legal team towards filing a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights are nearly completed. Additional information will be provided on this matter."
