Georgia Plans Legal Action Against BBC for Fake Information
The authorities in Georgia are planning to file lawsuits in international courts against the BBC for disseminating false information in an article that claimed police used chemical agents against protesters. This was announced by the ruling party "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia." The BBC had asserted in an article published yesterday that the Georgian authorities allegedly used chemical agents from World War I against protesters in 2024. The authors of the article based their conclusions on the comments of participants in the events in Tbilisi.
“Considering that this dirty propaganda material is an attempt to discredit the government of Georgia, the police, and, most importantly, the Georgian state, we have decided to initiate legal proceedings against the lying media outlet in international courts. We will use all possible legal means to hold this so-called news outlet accountable for spreading dirty and false accusations,” the statement reads.
