No Child Left There, Child's Arms Broken, Legs Broken: 1-Year-Old's Grandmother Shares New Details
A 1-year-old child was regularly beaten for a month and a half and later attempted to be killed, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office to Auroranews.
From January 22 to March 10, 2026, physical abuse resulting in severe physical pain was inflicted on the child, and incidents of deliberate attempts to take the child's life occurred on March 15. The prosecutor initiated public criminal proceedings against the child's father's second wife under the 2nd part of Article 196 and the 2nd part of Article 44-155 of the Criminal Code. A request has been submitted to the court to use detention as a measure of restraint.
In an interview with “Azatutyun”, the child's maternal grandmother said, “At 4 AM, they called my son and said, 'Come, the child is burning with a fever.' My son went and asked, 'What fever?' There is no child there, the child's arms broken, legs broken,” she recounted.
The child's grandmother claims that in the house where the tragedy occurred, the child had no blood relatives present. In official statements, the man referred to as the father is not the child's biological father. That man is the father of another grandchild, a 5-year-old girl. The mother had left the child in the care of her ex-husband and his girlfriend to find a rental home.
After alerting the media, social service workers arrived and took the girl to a care center. The child's mother even inquired from the media how the child was, not realizing that her other child, the 5-year-old girl, had been taken to a care center.
The child's maternal grandmother hopes that after all this, the care of the 5-year-old girl will be returned to her.
