85 Kilometer Traffic Jam: People Stuck for Over Seven Hours in Russia

A massive 85-kilometer traffic jam has formed on the R-258 highway near Lake Baikal in Buryatia, Russia. People have been stuck in the jam for more than seven hours, exhausting their supplies of food, water, and fuel. Reports indicate that among the stranded passengers are families with children, who are at risk of freezing in the -18 degrees Celsius (-20 degrees Fahrenheit) conditions.

Initial reports suggest that the jam was caused by heavy trucks obstructing the passage of passenger vehicles. The traffic congestion stretches from the village of Vidrino to the city of Kul'tuk.
