Whoever Wants to be in Power, Let Them Be, but Artsakh Should Not Be Part of Azerbaijan: Participant of the 44-Day War
We have noted during this time that there is a critical mass among the generation of independence, and this mass is capable of starting a new process; we can now declare that we are beginning the second phase of the struggle. This was stated by Arthur Avagyan, a participant in the 44-day war and one of the young people who recently ended his hunger strike, during a press briefing with reporters at Liberty Square.
“We have communicated with both pro-government and opposition forces and citizens, and everyone shares the same position regarding the fate of Artsakh, meaning that Artsakh should not be part of Azerbaijan; everyone is talking about the same thing. The principle is as follows: whoever wants to be in power, let them be, but Artsakh should not be part of Azerbaijan. This struggle is not an opposition agenda; it is the agenda of the generation of independence. The very existence of the independence generation is at risk,” he said.
The young people issued a statement, addressing the generation of independence to act on the principle of ‘Artsakh should not be part of Azerbaijan, whoever wants to be in power can be.’
“After the statement from the National Assembly of Artsakh, trust in the current authorities has been exhausted; any assurance that the agenda put forward by the generation of independence will be addressed or will be served by them is subject to doubt. It is an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of the Third Republic when the legislative body of Artsakh calls for sobriety to the authorities of Armenia; you have to be deaf not to hear what lies beneath this,” said Nver Kirakosyan. He added that they will become a pressure group with one agenda.
