The Number of Positions in the National Assembly May Increase: 'Jrakanutyun'

Members of the "My Step" faction of the National Assembly, including Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Artak Manukyan, Vladimir Vardanyan, Hamazasp Danielyan, Arthur Davtyan, and Czech faction member Sergey Bagratyan, presented a legislative package that is set to be discussed in the session of the National Assembly that started on May 26. This is reported by the "Jrakanutyun" newspaper.

Interestingly, the lawmakers propose to increase the number of positions in the National Assembly. Specifically, they suggest an amendment to the "Public Service Law" to add positions such as the advisor to the chairman of the permanent committee and the advisor to the faction of the National Assembly. As a result, the number of positions could increase by 15, as there are 12 permanent committees and three factions in Parliament.

The salary for an advisor is defined by a factor of six, which means they will receive a salary of 390,000 AMD (the basic salary is 66,400 AMD).

At the same time, they have proposed amendments to the rules of procedure of the National Assembly related to the work of the committees. From now on, the chairperson of a permanent committee must submit a summary report to the National Assembly and the public after the agenda items of the last session of each consecutive session have been exhausted. Additionally, it is proposed that a meeting be considered legitimate only if more than half of the committee members are present at the meeting,” the newspaper writes.
