Shooting at Child's Birthday Party in California Leaves Multiple Casualties
Reports from CBS indicate that at least four people have died and ten others have been injured following gunfire at a family gathering in Stockton, Northern California.
Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, informed reporters that the incident occurred around 6:00 PM local time at a party venue on Lucile Avenue. She clarified that the injured include both adults and minors.
The shooter has managed to escape. Stockton's Vice Mayor Jason Lin stated on social media that the shooting took place during a children's birthday party; however, Brent did not confirm this, referring to it only as a "family gathering."
Brent added that no arrests have been made yet, and there is currently no information about the shooter's identity or possible motives. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
The office of California Governor Gavin Newsom has reported receiving preliminary information regarding the incident. The sheriff's department has requested that witnesses provide any information or video that could assist with the investigation.
