Xi Jinping Orders Strengthening of Oversight on Bloggers and Internet Platforms

Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed the establishment of a long-term mechanism for internet governance and the tightening of oversight on the activities of bloggers and online platforms. This was reported by China Central Television.

"It is necessary to boldly 'draw the sword' against online chaos, decisively strike, cut off the chains of interests, and eradicate the soil for their emergence," the television quoted the president's words.

There is a demand to strengthen oversight on internet platforms, individual bloggers, and MCN agencies (companies that manage influencers' accounts). They are required to bear social responsibility and promote positive content.

Xi Jinping also noted the challenges associated with the development of Artificial Intelligence and big data, instructing to improve classification mechanisms for threats and data protection in these areas.
