Ukraine Must Become a 'Buffer State' Between Russia and NATO, Orbán Says

“The only viable long-term solution is for the post-war order to be based on the fundamental principle that Ukraine becomes the buffer state it once was. Russia retains the territory agreed upon at the international peace conference, and west of that line, up to NATO’s eastern border, constitutes Ukrainian territory that will again become a buffer,” said Hungary's Prime Minister in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.

He also stated that Russia and NATO must agree on the number and armament of Ukrainian armed forces allowed to operate in the buffer zone. Both sides need to provide guarantees that ‘no one will subordinate this buffer state to their power.’
