New Judicial Decision in the Case of Valodya Grigoryan's Murder

The suspect in the murder of Parakar community leader Valodya Grigoryan, Narek Ohanian, will remain in custody. The court has informed "Factinfo" that his detention has been extended for another two months.

It is recalled that on September 23, around 23:52, Valodya Grigoryan was shot dead near his newly built house on the Yerevan highway in the village of Mrdzavan. A criminal police officer, Karen Abrahamyan, who was beside Grigoryan at the time and not on duty, was also killed. A civilian, Artsrun Galstyan, was injured and is currently in extremely serious condition.

According to information, the assailant was masked and gloved, approached the individuals standing near the house, and unleashed a barrage of gunfire. After Grigoryan fell, he approached and struck him with the stock of the firearm before fleeing the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Ararat regional investigative department under Articles 155, Part 1 (two episodes) and 44-155, Part 1 (attempted murder) and 335, Part 1 (illegal arms trafficking) of the RA Criminal Code. The defendants are 31-year-old Narek Ohanian and 20-year-old Gevorg Harutyunyan, both of whom are being held in custody.

It has been noted that law enforcement initially advanced the theory of a vendetta and arrested Ohanian based on a possible connection to the murder of his brother months earlier. Harutyunyan was later arrested and is accused of carrying out the murder. At the same time, it was noted that the 20-year-old defendant was not a professional shooter.

Sources have reported that Harutyunyan did not serve in the army and thus had not learned to handle weapons during military service. It has been noted that he underwent training for months, including shooting practice, specifically for the murder of Valodya Grigoryan. The selection of him as a candidate was perhaps not coincidental.

The circle of beneficiaries from the murder is much larger than just Harutyunyan and Narek Ohanian, whose brother was killed months ago. However, there is another attempt to cover up the truth and exonerate certain individuals, attempting to remove them from the criminal chain.
