Russia's Foreign Ministry Issues 'Tough' Statement in Response to Polish Leadership's Hostile Actions
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a protest note has been presented to the Polish ambassador in response to the decision to revoke the operational permit of the Russian Consulate General in Gdansk.
It should be noted that in reaction to the Polish authorities' decision to revoke the permit for the operation of the Russian Consulate General in Gdansk effective December 23, 2025, Russia has announced that the permit for the operation of the Polish Consulate General in Irkutsk will be revoked on December 30, 2025.
The foreign ministry's statement emphasized that the closure of the Russian consular presence in Poland is being presented under an 'absurd pretext' and is regarded as a blatant hostile and unjust move by the Polish leadership. It was added that in retaliation, the last Polish consular office operating in Russia will also be closed.
Recall that Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski had stated that Poland is withdrawing its consent for the operation of the Russian consulate in Gdansk.
