998 Violations. 1.7 Million Dram Fine. The Environmental Inspectorate Implements Strict Monitoring

The Environmental and Natural Resources Inspectorate has presented the latest data on violations of atmospheric air protection requirements. A total of 998 incidents have been recorded, including the burning of waste, leaves, straw, remnants of vegetation, and landfills.

Of the total reports, 793 were received through the hotline, of which 582 were from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and 211 from citizens. The Inspectorate initiated 74 cases, with another 131 reported by other state bodies, including regional administrations and municipalities.

The distribution of cases by region is as follows:

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against 74 citizens, with total fines amounting to 1,750,000 drams. Additionally, three criminal cases have been registered.

39 inquiries have been sent to the regional governors of Armenia aimed at preventing spontaneous ignitions in landfills, ensuring monitoring, and assessing the failure to implement necessary fire prevention measures. Informative meetings were held in all consolidated communities during 2025, involving governors, community heads, councils, and residents. Issues related to fire prevention, the requirements of the “Atmospheric Air Protection Law,” and the stipulated administrative fines were discussed.

The Inspectorate reminds that burning straw, plant remnants, dried vegetation, as well as the vegetation cover in pastures and hayfields, incurs administrative liability with fines ranging from 50,000 to 300,000 drams. It is emphasized that strict monitoring will continue.
