Dust Concentration in Yerevan's Air Exceeds Permissible Levels

Gayané Shahnazaryan, the deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, presented statistical data on air quality during a recent press conference.

"In Yerevan, particularly in the city center, from November 17 to 25, the concentration of dust in the atmosphere exceeded the permissible limits by 1.4 to 4 times," she stated, emphasizing that the levels were particularly high on November 21 and November 25, exceeding permissible concentrations by 4 and 3.5 times, respectively.

In Arabkir during the same period, dust concentration exceeded permissible limits by 1.1 to 1.6 times, while in Shengavit, it was exceeded by 1.2 times only on November 25. In Nor Nork, the levels did not exceed permissible standards.

"Recently, air turbulence in the Ararat Valley has ceased, which has led to stagnation of air movement and accumulation of pollutants," Shahnazaryan noted.
