Pashinyan Discusses Review of Electricity Price Reduction
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a working discussion with the temporary manager of Armenia's electric networks, Romanos Petrosyan, that in various countries, prices are often artificially reduced due to political expediency and compromises, in order to avoid political crises. He noted that this approach has led to some systems standing on the brink of collapse.
Pashinyan emphasized the necessity of clearly presenting the pricing logic to citizens: “The price must be effective to ensure the normal functioning and certain development of the system. Furthermore, any amount beyond that is unjustified, as citizens will logically question why they are paying so much.”
Romanos Petrosyan indicated that they already have an understanding of the potential scale for the revision of electricity prices. He expressed confidence that a relevant decision will be made at the beginning of the year.
