Macron: 'Deterrent Forces' to Be Deployed in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that, following the signing of a peace agreement, 'deterrent forces' may be deployed in Ukraine. He stated that the units would be stationed away from the front lines, in cities such as Kyiv and Odesa.
According to him, the mission will involve military personnel from the United Kingdom, France, and Turkey. Their duties will include training Ukrainian troops and ensuring security, similar to the support provided by NATO countries to those on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
He emphasized that the initiative falls within the framework of an intergovernmental coalition, rather than a NATO-led mission, with around 20 countries prepared to participate on land, at sea, or in the air.
