Ararat Mirzoyan Sues Haik Demoyan

Ararat Mirzoyan Sues Haik Demoyan

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, has filed a lawsuit against Haik Demoyan, the former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute and a Doctor of Historical Sciences.

The issue arises from Demoyan's statements made during an interview at the Armlur.am studio, in which he named the alleged culprits behind the disappearance of books from the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. The interview was published under the headline: "Besides the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy, there is another one in the case of the stolen books. Who is he?"

According to information from the Judicial Information System, Mirzoyan has demanded that Demoyan publicly refute the statements made in a video published on the Armlur TV YouTube channel with the same headline. Mirzoyan has also imposed a requirement on Demoyan to compensate damages claimed as defamation, amounting to 3 million drams, equal to 3,000 times the established minimum wage.

In another lawsuit, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, along with an individual named Zhanna Andreasian, is demanding 6 million and 3 million drams from Demoyan, respectively. The ministry and Andreasian are asking for a public retraction of defamatory publications, an apology, and compensation for non-material damages caused to their honor, dignity, and business reputation. However, the application from the ministry and Andreasian has been returned.
