US Offers Ukraine Territorial Concessions

A Ukrainian official has confirmed signals received from Washington indicating that the US has proposed a new plan to halt the war. According to media outlets relaying information about the proposal, it calls for Ukraine to concede some territories and weapons, citing diplomatic sources.

In an interview with Radio Liberty, a Ukrainian official aware of the proposal stated that Kyiv received such signals from Washington but refrained from providing additional details or commenting on the country's stance. President Volodymyr Zelensky has yet to respond to this issue as he holds meetings in Turkey aimed at promoting peace negotiations.

Reports suggest that the US proposals involve ceding several territories, as well as a reduction in the number of Ukrainian armed forces and American military support, which has played a crucial role in resisting Russian forces. Additionally, Kyiv is expected to agree that no foreign troops will be stationed in the country and that it will no longer receive long-range weaponry.

The Financial Times and Reuters detailed these proposals, which closely align with demands presented by Russia earlier this year, when President Donald Trump had invigorated the peace process.

Shortly after the publication of this information, Zelensky expressed gratitude on Telegram to the Turkish president for hosting the negotiations and praised “President Trump's decisive moves and leadership for every strong and fair proposal to end this war.” He emphasized that “only President Trump and the United States have the sufficient power to finally end the war,” as the country finds itself in the fourth year of conflict.

Despite the words of thanks, the proposed plan may complicate Zelensky's position, as he has faced a domestic crisis for the past two weeks due to a corruption scandal revealed in the energy sector.

On the frontline, Russia is approaching the city of Pokrovsk, which could create an opportunity to occupy the entire Donbas region, aligning with Putin's objectives. Meanwhile, as winter approaches, Russia continues to strike Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure in an attempt to pressure the population resisting the war.
