Reject the Conspiratorial Plan Directly Threatening Our Statehood: Arman Babajanyan
Arman Babajanyan, a member of the National Assembly, has issued a statement: "Today it became known that, against the backdrop of Azerbaijan's periodic provocations that claim lives and incite armed conflicts along various sections of the Armenian border, the Republic of Armenia is compelled to turn to the Russian Federation for the deployment of Russian border guards along the entire length of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement at today’s government meeting criticizing the policy of Aliyev's regime, which endangers regional and European peace, security, and the future. At the same time, he overlooked the significant role of Russia in shaping the realities in our region, where Azerbaijan's audacity and cynicism are key, and publicly proposed to Moscow the effective handover of three of Armenia's four borders in exchange for stopping military clashes and threats.
We are convinced that if Aliyev's corrupt dictatorship were not counting on the following:
- a/ Russia's tacit encouragement and the CSTO's de facto refusal to fulfill its commitments towards the Republic of Armenia in the context of Yerevan's displayed passive stance, which is conditioned by fears of Moscow's possible brutal and unlawful actions;
- b/ the leadership of the Republic of Armenia's constraints after the 44-day war on building and implementing a commensurate, interests-based counter-strategy due to blatant and illegal pressures from the Russian side;
- c/ the complete rejection of the idea of diversifying foreign policies by official Yerevan, again conditioned by pressures from Moscow, including the cynical and overt use of hybrid war and information diversions against Armenia and within the country.
Therefore, the Hanun Republic Party strongly condemns the policies conducted by the Russian Federation against the Republic of Armenia and calls on the RA government to refrain from the dangerous illusion that border security can be achieved at the expense of the country’s sovereignty.
The Hanun Republic Party considers any retreat by the executive power from the Declaration of Independence of Armenia (1990), the outcomes of the Armenian Independence referendum (1991), the constitutional principles defined by Article 1 of the RA Constitution, which states that the Republic of Armenia is a sovereign, democratic, social, legal state, and Article 2, according to which power belongs to the people and any authority lacks a mandate to transfer sovereignty under duress to outsiders, unacceptable.
The Hanun Republic Party calls on like-minded political forces on this critical issue, civil society, and individual citizens to:
- reject the conspiratorial plan imposed on us that directly threatens our statehood;
- immediately mobilize the entire potential of Armenia, the Armenian people, and its real friendly nations and states to diversify the Republic of Armenia's policies, fully realizing our rights as an independent and sovereign state in the OSCE, the UN Security Council, and all possible other international platforms.
