What Stage is the Armenia-EU Visa Liberalization Process?
The first EU assessment mission will visit Armenia. The Armenian version of the action plan for the Armenia-EU visa liberalization has been published, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In the coming days, the first EU assessment mission for the implementation of the Armenia-EU visa liberalization action plan will arrive in Armenia to hold on-site meetings and discussions with relevant Armenian authorities.
The visit of experts from EU member states aims to evaluate the progress in the implementation of the first phase benchmarks related to the legislative and policy framework across all four directions of the VLAP.
As a result of the delegation's visit, the first assessment report on the Action Plan will be prepared by the European Commission, expected to be published in the spring of 2026.
The assessment will be carried out in a two-stage format, based on performance: initial benchmarks related to the formulation of the legislative and policy framework, and second-phase benchmarks concerning their practical implementation and application.
The European Commission will regularly present progress reports based on assessments conducted on the ground, observations from experts from member states, and detailed information provided by Armenia.
