The Second Building of Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum to be Demolished in Yerevan

The second building of the Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum is set to be demolished. This decision was made during the Yerevan City Council session on November 18.

It has been noted that a new building is planned to be constructed in its place. The project for the decision was presented by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia.

Previously, the Armenian government allocated 750 million drams for the reconstruction of the second building of the museum and for the renovation of the first building, which has been closed since September 2023.

In September 2025, the museum's director, Lusine Karakhanyan, informed the media that according to the previously approved project, one of the walls of the second building was supposed to be reinforced. However, during the dismantling process, it became clear that the wall was subject to demolition due to an error regarding seismic stability.
